This is a really interÂestÂing post to me. I’m not a venÂdor, but I am a wedÂding blogÂger and as a past bride when I first started readÂing wedÂding blogs durÂing my planÂning process, I NEVER clicked on an adverÂtiseÂment. I read the posts, looked a picÂtures, and was influÂenced that way. So I totally agree with you that venÂdors HAVE to be in the posts/social media to be noticed. My eye seems almost trained now to comÂpletely ignore what is in the side colÂumn. Now, whether this is a result of no longer being in the wedÂding ‘planÂning mode’ or not, I don’t know, but I do know that as a blogÂger I am conÂstantly on the lookÂout for new and excitÂing things and yet — I still never peep over at the litÂtle advert squares in the side bar. In fact, as a bride I found it frusÂtratÂing to have to squint at the picÂtures in blog posts because they were too small (or maybe my eyes are ‘too old’?) Now, as a blogÂger I strugÂgle with the issue of adverÂtisÂing. I use a page to host sponÂsors, and keep all adverÂtiseÂments off the main pages. I someÂtimes wonÂder if this is a good thing or a bad thing. I could sell on my main page — but would that spoil the look of the page? Would it actuÂally increase hits to my sponÂsors? Or would viewÂerÂship drop off because now my readÂers are squintÂing and jamÂming their faces up against their screen to see the details in an inspiÂraÂtion board as much as I used to? I really don’t have an answer to this — so I’m really lookÂing forÂward to readÂing this series of blog posts you have planned!
