oilterminals2.jpgOperations at the oil terminals at Lavera and Fos-sur-Mer and the goods and containers sectors in the autonomous port of Marseille in the south of France were disrupted Tuesday for the third consecutive week by work stoppages by the CGT (General Confederation of Labour) union, the port's management said. Union members are striking in protest against the reform of autonomous ports.
Twenty-seven chemical products ships and oil tankers were left stranded at Fos-Lavera, while the goods and containers sectors were functioning at a slowed down pace at Fos and Marseille, the port authority said.
Four-hour work stoppages were shared out between various parts of the port during the day by the autonomous port's officials.
Ship repairs, the activities of freighters which transport heavy goods vehicles and the transportation of passengers were functioning as normal.
