The CMA CGM Group is pleased to announce that the newly-built CMA CGM VELA, an 11 000 TEU capacity containership, will be calling Le Havre for the first time on November 26. The CMA CGM VELA was built in the Daewoo South-Korean yard. She is 347 meters long, has a 15.5 meter draft, and has a maximum speed of 24.6 knots.
A latest generation vessel, CMA CGM VELA is equipped with an electronic engine which will substantially cut fuel consumption and carbon emissions. Its twisted-leading edge
rudder also increases manoeuvrability and optimizes water flow, thus reducing by 2 to 4 % energy consumption and CO2 emissions.
The delivery of this vessel is part of the newbuilding program
initiated by CMA CGM, which has invested in modern, high-performance
and eco-friendly vessels. Protecting the marine environment, fighting
climate change, and developing eco-friendly services and solutions are
indeed major priorities for CMA CGM.
The CMA CGM VELA is deployed on the FAL1 service linking Asia and
Europe, and calling Le Havre, Malta, Khor Al fakkan, Chiwan, Pusan,
Kwangyang, Dalian, Tianjin, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Yantian, Singapore,
Port Kelang, Tanger Med, Southampton, Hamburg, Rotterdam and Zeebrugge.
