China's top economic planning agency said on Wednesday that it will lift price controls on thermal coal, among other products, from Jan. 1, 2009. The National Development and Reform Commission introduced temporary controls on prices for a range of goods from instant noodles to liquefied petroleum gas and thermal coal, to battle surging inflation, and to ease power and coal
shortages.
