china_map_thumb.jpgChina has discovered an iron ore deposit of approximately two billion tons in its northeastern province of Liaoning, according to local bureau of geology and mineral exploration. The iron ores mainly come from volcano sediment accumulation. Though buried deep at about 1,100 meters underground, the iron ores are of high concentration to an average of 34 percent.
Yu Wenli, head of Liaoning Provincial Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources Exploration, predicted that the deposit could be explored for at least 50 years.
Lioaning province is one of the Chinese provinces rich in iron resources, taking up over a quarter of the country's total.
