China's fuel oil imports have been estimated at 2.2-2.4 million metric tonnes (mt) in April, up slightly from 2.23 million mt recorded in March, reports said. Imports coming from Singapore were forecast at a high of 550,000 mt this month, China-based C1 Energy cited industry sources as saying.
Some traders are stockpiling fuel oil from Singapore in East China in
anticipation of the Chinese government lifting geographic restrictions
on the bonded bunker market in April, the sources told the Chinese
private industry news agency.
China imports from Japan were down 64% to 100,000 mt in April, while
those from South Korea were steady at 200,000-250,000 mt, according to
shipping fixtures obtained by C1 Energy.
Imports from Southeast Asia fell 38% to 300,000-350,000 mt, from
Venezuela at 400,000-450,000 mt, while imports from the Middle East and
other sources were estimated at 200,000-300,000 mt and 200,000-250,000
mt respectively.
