Brisk shipping was recorded at the Port Qasim (PQ) where five ships scheduled to load/offload containers, 16,027 tonnes cement, 10,500 tonnes palm oil and 66,415 tonnes furnace oil were accommodated berths at QICT, Multi Purpose Terminal,
Liquid Cargo Terminal and Fotco Oil Terminal respectively on Thursday.
Meanwhile, three more ships carrying 65,831 tonnes furnace oil, 49, 850
tonnes diesel oil and 17,558 tonnes phosphoric acid also arrived at the
outer anchorage of PQ during the last 24 hours. Berth occupancy
remained at 73 percent for the 2nd consecutive at the port where a
total of nine ships namely CV Dubai Express, CV Hanjin Piraeus, MV
Alexi-3, MV Tekeze, MV Orient-II, MT Nogogine, MT Genie, MT Arctic
Flonder and MV Golden Wish were occupied at PQA terminals to
load/offload containers, cement, canola seeds, palm oil, diesel oil,
furnace oil and iron ore respectively during last 24 hours.
Cargo throughput during the report period stood at 77,288 tonnes
comprising 58,880 tonnes import cargo and 18,408 tonnes export cargo
inclusive of containerised cargo carried in 2,121 containers (boxes)
was handled at the port. Three ships MT Arctic Flonder, CV Dubai
Express and MV Golden Wish sailed out to sea during the last 24 hours,
while two more ships, CV Hanjin Piraeus and MV Orient-II are expected
to sail on Friday.
