coalprises.jpgChile hopes that due to the climbing copper price, Chile’s copper yield in 2010 will rise to 5.8 million tonne from about 5.4 million tonne in 2009. Total exports of Chile’s copper is set to touch $27 billion, and it is expected to go up to around $31 billion in 2010.
Chile’s Its copper exports in 2008 were $34.12b, and that in 2007 created a historical high $37.56b.
During the 2006-2008 period, the mining field sharply increased, furthermore, in this period, the number of producers jumped to 2,800 from 450. Chile’s mining industry has played a world-class role, promoting the national economy to develop.
Chile will increase output by 6 per cent or 400,000 tonnes in 2010 from this year as the global economy picks up.
The South American country’s copper output will be at 5.4 million tonnes in 2009, slightly above the 5.3 million extracted last year.
Supply and demand are very tight, which reflects today’s prices, and there is no major reason to believe this will radically change in coming months.
