GAIL (India) Ltd. will buy a liquefied natural gas (LNG) cargo from Spanish firm Repsol after a planned deal with British firm BG fell through, two sources at the Indian firm said on Thursday.
"The deal with BG did not work out, they were asking for higher price
then what they had said initially. But with Repsol we have concluded
the deal," a top company official told Reuters.
He said BG revised the offer because of rising winter demand for the fuel.
Another official, involved in awarding the tender, said the cargo for
end-November lifting had been contracted at an ex-ship price of
$6.5-$6.6 per million British thermal units (mBtu) from Repsol.
BG had initially offered the cargo at an ex-ship price of $5.5 per/mBtu.
