Korea Southern Power Co Ltd (KOSPO) has bought a total of 760,000 tonnes of coal for power via tenders, a company source said on Tuesday. The utility had received 2.5 million tonnes of coal offers for its tenders closed last Thursday to buy a minimum of 550,000 tonnes for unloading in July and September.
"While we received quite a large volume of offers, the offer prices
showed the markets were still tight," said the source who declined to be
identified because of the sensitivity of the issue.
While the source declined to disclose deal prices, details of the
purchases are as follows:

Note: Of the total, KOSPO bought 120,000 tonnes of Canadian origin, with
the remainder of Indonesian origin.
