Hanjin Shipping has announced today that it will implement a new chassis supply management program in the U.S. Effective October 1st, 2010, the company will discontinue providing chassis in Miami and Philadelphia and gradually expand the program to other regions in the U.S.
Hanjin Shipping comments, “In line with what has been in force in the
rest of the world, we believe that the implementation of this new policy
will immediately improve terminal productivity and cargo transit time
at U.S. terminals as well by reducing idle time waiting for chassis. We
are also pleased that this program will help us reduce cargo foot print
and have a positive impact on the environment in line with our green
management policy.”
Hanjin Shipping adds that in prior to the introduction of this policy
the company is cooperating with leasing companies to assist its
customers with chassis supply.
