AAP reported that Gindalbie Metals Ltd has taken an important step towards realizing stage two of its Karara iron ore project, signing an initial agreement for the use of Oakajee deepwater port near Geraldton in Western Australia
Gindalbie says it intends to ship iron ore from stage two of its Karara
mine project in WA's mid west through the proposed Oakajee Port, signing
a memorandum of understanding with Oakajee Port and Rail setting out
the terms for a supply chain agreement.
Mr Garret Dixon MD of Gindalbie said that the Oakajee Port development
was a key component of the company's long term vision for the Karara
Iron Ore Project.
Mr Dixon said “The development of Oakajee Port will play a vital role in
helping us realize the full potential of the Karara Project, providing
us with the port infrastructure necessary to reach full production
capacity under a future Stage 2 expansion.”
Gindalbie recently began work on stage one and expects initial
production of 10 million tonnes per annum from mid-2011, to be exported
